Margaret Ayers Is Bride Of William White
The
wedding of Miss Margaret Louise Ayers. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
W. Ayers of Raleigh and William Albert White. son of Mr. and Mrs. George
William White of Raleigh, Was solomized Sunday afternoon at five
o'clock in the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. M. O. Sommers
officiating. Wedding music was furnished by Mrs. James Hackney of
Washington, organist, and Miss Bobbie Hackney of Washington, soloist.
The
bride, who was given in marriage by her brother Edwin W. Ayers. Jr..
Wore a gown of white slipped satin made with a roundyoke of imported
lace. fitted bodice and long sleeves ending in points over the hands.
Her finger-tip veil of illusion fell from a ruffle of lace edged with
orange blossoms and she carried a shower of roses from a white prayer
book.
Misses Margaret Goold, Harriet Bryan, Inez
Woodlief and Annette Graham, all of Raleigh, were bridesmaids and Mrs J.
E. Davis of Raleigh, was dame of honor.
The bridal
attendants wore net dresses over taffeta, fashioned with hoop skirts and
drop shoulders. They wore mits to match, and carried mixed flower.
George
Dwight Godwin of Raleigh was the best man, and the ushers were John
Stedman Ayers of Lumberton, and David Ayers, brothers at the bride;
Gilbert Layton and Clyde Mitchell, all from Raleigh.
Immediately
after the ceremony, the bridal couple left on a wedding trip to
unannounced points. They will be at home after June 22nd at home of
groom's parents on Wake Forest Road.
For traveling the bride wore an aqua suit with pink lace blouse and the roses from her prayer book.
Mrs.
White is a graduate Of Hugh Morson High School and is employed at the
bookkeeping department of the Wachovia Bank of Raleigh.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Millbrook High School school. He served in the Coast Guard for three years during World War II.
Mr.
and Mrs. E. W. Ayers, parents of the bride, entertained at a buffet
luncheon yesterday at 1 o'clock at their home on North Person Street
honoring the White-Ayers wedding party and out-of-town guests.
